Tomahawk - Captain Midnight
I love Tomahawk and Captain Midnight is my hero (whoever he may be). Mike Patton has a real knack for doing softly-sung verse mixed with ear-splitting chorus. It's so my thing.

Kristeen Young
I love every song she has ever sang, I will love every song she will ever sing.
PS: People just talking over KY in this video like she isn't the best thing that's ever happened to them. So rude!

Morrissey - Now My Heart Is Full
This song's been swimming around my head these past few weeks.
Also, I just got tickets to the 'sold-out' Radio City Music Hall show.
Now, my heart is full.

Green Day - Outsider (Ramones Cover)
I've loved Green Day for 18 years now. I could go on about how great they are as a band and how impressive it is that they're releasing a new album this week (which I'm sure will be pretty amazing), but let me just say how one of the many things I love about this band is that they introduced me to other great music. Like Husker Du, Operation Ivy, Pinhead Gunpowder, Screeching Weasel, Crimpshrine, Pansy Division, ... the list goes on. And of course, the Ramones. If any old school punkhead wants to slag Green Day on being too pop or sellout, I say get over it. Green Day introduced me and hundreds of other people to the punk rock bands they loved, and now we too love these bands we might not ever have heard of.
We keep the torch going, we keep great punk rock alive.

Savages - Husbands
Another recommendation from Miss Kristeen Young, she has such good taste. A rare instance of me listening to a relatively new band.

Joy Division - Shadowplay
I only just found out the title of this song yesterday, even though I've liked it for a while. Something happened between yesterday and today because I am now completely in love with it, have played it repeatedly on both my stereo and mp3 player and I'm going to try to learn it on the guitar.

Deftones - Change (In the House of Flies)
Here's something different: I've heard this song a total of ONCE and deem it worthy of a spot in a blog where most songs I post I've heard for years. Much thanks to Kristeen Young for putting it on her FB. The only other song I know by the Deftones is a cover called "Ghosts" which is great when you're down and out, also a recommendation (from Jhonen Vasquez).
It's so rare and wonderful when a song grabs you immediately. You almost can't wait for the song to end just so you can listen to it all over again.

The Clash - Rudie Can't Fail
When this song comes up on my mp3 player, it puts a swagger to my step.

Rancid - Roots Radicals
I saw Rancid recently and it's reignited my old love for all things punk rock. Inspiration can happen anytime. Thank you Rancid for keeping me sane and happy.

Alice In Chains - Man in the Box (Live)
This might be the best live performance of any song by any band ever. If I'd seen this live, I'm pretty sure I'd be in tears afterward. Holy Mother of God.

Lord of the Rings - Steward of Gondor
Now for something a little different... this is the first time I'm featuring a song from a soundtrack and this is one of the very best. Billy Boyd's voice is just about perfect, singing lyrics that Tolkien wrote. Howard Shore is a veritable master.

Tomahawk - Rape This Day
This song is kicking my ass these days. Mit Gas is not leaving my stereo anytime soon.
Yes, I still listen to music in CD form, on a stereo. Fuck you.
